Weaver L. Hurst

Weaver L. Hurst, 75, of 1563 Main St., Goodville, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Ephrata Community Hospital following a two year illness. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Steffy) Hurst with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Paul and Emma (Leisey) Hurst. He was a member of St. John’s Center U.C.C., East Earl. He was a volunteer with Goodville Fire Co. Weaver owned Hurst Brothers Feed Mill, East Earl, for 43 years until 1996. After retirement he worked for Schaad Detective Agency and making deliveries for Class Eight Auto Parts. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and spending time at his cabin in Juniata County, and time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, David, married to Cynthia (Stumpf) Hurst of East Earl, and Daryl Hurst of Goodville, three grandchildren, Patty Roye, Tammy Sebastian and Amanda Hurst, and seven great grandchildren, Paige and Drew Martin, Sidney Roye, Zoie Hanley, Autumn Sebastian, and Anthony and Jaeda Hurst. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Shirk; a brother Irvin Hurst; and a nephew Richard Hurst. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 7, at11 a.m. at St. John’s Center U.C.C., 432 Reading Road, East Earl, PA, with Pastor Brad Haws officiating. Interment will be in Center Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, 209 E. Main St., Terre Hill, and on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the Church.
