Weaver W. Martin

Weaver W. Martin, 86, of 458 Staver Road, Reinholds, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Essa Flory Hospice Center, Lancaster, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Adamstown, he was the son of the late Aaron H. and Alice G. (Weber) Martin. He was married 63 years on April 2 to Kathryn M. (Weaver) Martin.

He was an avid bird watcher, building and maintaining blue bird houses along the farm fence rows and neighboring properties. His creativity and love for nature will continue to live on in his children and grandchildren, not only in the hand crafted gifts he made for them, but also in the many interests they share with him.

He was a member of Bowmansville Mennonite Church where he taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years, created bulletin covers and occasionally did chalk drawings for Sunday evening services. He also served as a trustee and a member of the cemetery committee

Surviving in addition to his wife are four children, Rosalind D., married to Dennis Ernest of Stevens, M. Fern, married to Monroe Gilmour of Black Mt., NC, L. Merle Martin of Reinholds, and Carol Martin Johnson, married to Tim Martin Johnson of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Jeremy, married to Emmalea Ernest, Rebecca Ernest, David, Aaron, and Sarah Gilmour, and Robert and Katie Johnson; two great grandchildren, Irene and Ruth Ernest; a brother, Warren W., married to Verna (Good) Martin of Fleetwood; and a sister, Viola, married to William Weaver of Harrisonburg, VA.
