William C. Nuse Sr., 73, of East Earl, PA passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Coatesville Veterans Affairs Hospital. He had been battling cancer for nearly one year. Bill was born on January 24, 1939 in Downingtown, PA to the late Robert and Edna (Waltman) Nuse. He is survived by his son William C. Nuse, Jr. (Chuck) husband of Lari (England), granddaughters Elizabeth and Jessica with whom he resided.
He is also survived by siblings Horace J. (Betty) Nuse of Elverson, Robert L. (Shirley) Nuse of Honey Brook, Lillian Boley of East Earl, Catherine Peters and Reese Nuse of Modena, Linda (Leon) Butler of Sadsburyville, Helen (Roy) Dunlap, Margaret Chubb, and Betty Nuse of New Holland. He was also predeceased by two sisters Laura Holzmuller and Lois (John) Bawell. He is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
Bill actively served in the U. S. Army from 1961-1964 and was in Reserves until 1967 when he was honorably discharged. He was a former employee of Mohawk Rubber of Lancaster, and later an employee of Heritage Custom Kitchens, of New Holland. Bill was also a Life Member of the American Legion, also actively involved for 37 years. He had served as Post Commander, Deputy Commander, and Post Adjutant at Conestoga Post #662 New Holland. He was an active member on many committees including: Budget, Scholarship, and Legion baseball for Conestoga Valley and New Holland baseball teams. He was also an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watch both College and NFL football in his free time.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 6 at 11:30 AM at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland. A viewing will be held at Beck’s on Tuesday from 7 – 9 PM and on Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of the medical personnel that assisted with Bill’s treatments at Ephrata Hospital and its affiliated associates, Infectious Disease doctors of Lancaster, Lancaster General Hospital, Hospice of Lancaster County and a very special thanks to both Mid Atlantic Surgical Associates and Coatesville Veterans Affairs Hospital hospice facility.
