William F. Zimmerman, 90, of New Holland, peacefully went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at his home. His wife of 67 years, Margaret (Redcay) Zimmerman, survives.
Born in Hinkletown, he was the son of the late William M. and Cora (Flickinger) Zimmerman.
He worked for 40 years at the former New Holland Machine Company, now CNH, retiring in 1985.
William attended Ephrata Baptist Chapel and was member of the Penn Dutch Sportsman Club.
During World War II, he served in the Army with the Company D 736th Tank Battalion as a gunner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Deb married to Darryl Carpenter, New Holland, and Bill married to Grace Zimmerman, Fredericksburg; and a grandson Cory married to Amy Ruhl, Denver.
He was preceded in death by six siblings: Isaac Zimmerman, Charles Zimmerman, Maude Brendle, Mamie Weber, Laura Zimmerman and Elizabeth Weaver.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland. Interment will be in Memory Gardens. A viewing will be held at Beck’s on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.
