Wilmer H. Burkhart, 84, formerly of Terre Hill, passed on to his heavenly home while surrounded by his family after a short illness on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Pleasant View Retirement Community. He is survived by his wife Anna W. (Snader) Burkhart of Manheim with whom he shared 64 years of marriage
Born in Brecknock Twp., Lanc. Co., he was the son of the late Harry N. and Suie (Hurst) Burkhart.
Actively involved at Bowmansville Mennonite Church, he had taught Sunday School for 50 years, served as Sunday School Supt., and had been a youth advisor.
Wilmer was a hard-working man, working as a heating and cooling technician many years at C.M. Good, Sico and Lin Good & Sons. He also had worked in the produce dept. at Shady Maple for ten years following retirement.
He enjoyed playing bluegrass music with his brothers, bus trips and taking his grandchildren on fishing trips and time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Anna, are his children, Linda J., married to Daniel Althouse, East Earl; Linford J., married to Judy (Eisenberger) Burkhart, Willow Street; Susan K., married to James Musser, Bowmansville, Dale W., married to Jeannie (Mast) Burkhart, Narvon; Kathy J., married to Dean Weiler, Morgantown; and Melissa A., married to Jeffrey Martin, Lititz; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; and his sisters-in-law, Ruth and Elsie Burkhart.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Fulmer and Eleanor Good, and brothers John, James and Warren Burkhart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015 at 10 a.m. at the Bowmansville Mennonite Church, 129 Pleasant Valley Road, East Earl, with Pastors Larry Weber and Duane Ringler officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Retirement Community, Hoffer Auditorium, and on Thursday from 6-8 pm and Friday from 9-10 am at the Church. Contributions may be made to Pleasant View Benevolent Fund, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, PA 17545. Arrangements are with Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
