Wilmer E. Messner

Wilmer E. Messner, 86, of New Holland, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Wilmer was born in Narvon to his late parents, Leroy K. and Emma H. (Good) Messner. He was married to Dorothy L. (Bitler) Messner, who survives at home.

Wilmer was a diligent worker and man who loved his family. He enjoyed being surrounded by those whom he loved. His beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought much joy to his life. His love for his siblings was displayed by his weekly meals with them. He was an incredibly talented auto mechanic and after retirement, he continued to work at JB Zimmerman’s in New Holland. He had deep faith and love for the Lord. He and Dorothy were members of Trinity EC Church in Terre Hill where he served as Secretary of the Church and a Trustee.

In addition to Dorothy, Wilmer is survived by his children, Jean Lorraine Hoffman and her husband Reverend Douglas Hoffman, of Burlington, VT, Wilmer E. Messner, Jr. and his wife Ann, of Bainbridge, and Annetta Ravegum, of New Holland. He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Lester Messner, Rachel Messner, and Barry Messner.

In addition to his parents, Wilmer was predeceased by his grandson Angelli Brown and his siblings, John Messner, Earl Messner, Leroy Messner, Richard Messner and Mary Elizabeth Messner.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Trinity EC Church, 110 East Main Street, Terre Hill, with Pastor Neal Martin officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will occur immediately following the funeral service in Terre Hill Cemetery.
