Born and raised in New Holland, he was the son of the late Dr. Wilson A. Foust, MD and Elizabeth (Schmertz) Foust.

As a child, Wilson enjoyed playing backyard games with the local children in the town cemeteries. He graduated from New Holland High School and Rutgers University with a bachelor’s in journalism.
