Winona M. Shirk

Winona M. Shirk, 78, of 327 S. Railroad Ave., New Holland, died Wednesday, May 23 at Hospice of Lancaster County. She is survived by her husband, Jay H. Shirk, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Laura Rock.

Winona was a secretary for the former New Holland Machine Company, retiring in 1992 after 31 years of service.

She was a member of Salem Evangelical Reformed Church (Hellers) where she sang in the choir and helped in the church office and with luncheons. She also enjoyed bowling.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children: Larry J. married to Judi (Bath) Shirk, New Holland; Deb M. married to Ragen Burns, New Holland; Russ S. married to Cindy (Lefever) Shirk, Lancaster; and David L. Shirk, Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren: Emily L. Shirk, Ben H. Shirk, Jarred C. Burns, Justin M. Burns, Katelyn M. Burns and a great granddaughter, Harper V. Burns.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 26 at 11 AM at the Salem Evangelical Reformed Church (Hellers) 2555 Horseshoe Rd., Lancaster with Pastor Bruce Tully officiating.
